THIS IS THE SHOOT-OUT FOR THE SOCCERPLEX!! On March 2, 1999, the County Council will hold it's final public hearing on the South Germantown Park and SoccerPlex. They have not given their final approval for this project so it is critical that the soccer community show the Council how important this project is. Given the short time left, if you have not sent a letter, you can call your Council member at the numbers below or e-mail them a cut-and-pasted version of the letter below. Also, please try to attend with your uniformed children March 2 at 7:30PM at the County Council Office Building, 3rd Floor Hearing Room, 100 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, MD. Parking is available in the public lot adjacent to the building.

Dear Mr. Andrews:

My family supports the SoccerPlex. I have 2 kids playing soccer in the County and am appalled at the condition of your fields. We have to walk the field removing rocks and sticks before the kids can play. There is usually little or no grass and with the holes and ruts, they are not safe. This is all due to overuse and lack of money for good maintenance

The Maryland Soccer Foundation and the soccer community have come together to build a soccer complex this county can be proud of. In addition, as I understand it, without the SoccerPlex, South Germantown Park would not be built for ten years because there is no funding. So not only is the county getting a soccer complex, the county is getting a park!

Please cast your vote in support of the SoccerPlex. We need it. Our kids deserve it. If we don't do it know, it will never happen.
